NJCU Announces Fall 2017 Arts Events

New Jersey City University Center for the Arts, the creative umbrella for the University's performing, visual, film, and literary arts activities, announces its arts and culture calendar for fall 2017.

The New Jersey City University Alumni Jazz Big Band will perform a 100th Birthday Salute to Four Jazz Icons, featuring the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, and Thelonious Monk on the J. Owen Grundy Pier, Exchange Place, in Jersey City on Friday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m.

NJCU Business Students Complete Goldman Sachs’ Local College Collaborative Program

Nine business students enrolled at the New Jersey City University (NJCU) School of Business were among 40 undergraduates delivering final presentations for the Goldman Sachs’ Local College Collaborative program on Friday, May 5 at Goldman Sachs’s global headquarters in New York City. The event showcased the outstanding work done by these exceptional students and marked their completion of the program.

NJCU Team Wins Prize in Vienna for ‘Most Effective Opening Address’

New Jersey City University (NJCU) was selected as one of three American teams to compete in a prestigious international mediation and negotiation competition in Vienna, June 28-July 2, 2016.  Only 30 teams from around the globe were selected to negotiate as teams of council and client at “CDRC Vienna – The IBA-VIAC Mediation and Negotiation Competition.”

NJCU Awarded $1.4 Million NSF Grant

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a Robert Noyce grant in the amount of $1,444,698 to New Jersey City University for support of its project, “Recruiting and Preparing STEM Majors as Secondary Teachers for High-Need School Districts in New Jersey.”

NJCU Names Dr. Bernard McSherry, Entrepreneur and a Former Governor of New York Stock Exchange, Founding Dean of NJCU School of Business

New Jersey City University has named Dr. Bernard McSherry as founding Dean of the NJCU School of Business.  Dr. McSherry is a former governor of the New York Stock Exchange who brings three decades of experience as a business leader and entrepreneur.  He has served as a faculty member and interim dean of the NJCU School of Business since June 2014.

NJCU Selects Dr. João Sedycias, Distinguished Linguist and Transformative Teacher, To Be Dean of the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences

Dr. João Sedycias has been selected as the new Dean of NJCU’s William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences. The selection was announced following a national search for qualified candidates, which included meetings and open forums with NJCU’s faculty, administrators, staff, and students. The appointment as dean is effective August 2016.

NJCU Confucius Institute Held First Trustees Meeting in China

The Confucius Institute (CI) at NJCU held its first international Board of Trustees meeting at Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages (JHQUFL), its partner institution in Changchun, China on June 18, 2016.  Led by Provost and Senior Vice President, Dr. Daniel Julius, NJCU faculty who sit on the CI Board, met with their Chinese counterparts to review the Institute’s progress since its opening on the NJCU campus last November, and to provide feedback on the Institute’s Five-year Strategic Plan.
